You will note that we have used pH Neutralization / pH Adjustment together. Actually the two terms are synonymous and we prefer to use pH adjustment only. The term pH Neutralization implies adjusting the pH to a neutral pH, which is a pH of 7.0. Since this is impractical to do in most cases, and given the fact that all industrial discharges are provided range, such as 6.0 < pH < 9.0, we prefer to use the term pH Adjustment. Using pH Adjustment as opposed to pH neutralization, we avoid the implication that the discharge will always occur at a true neutral pH of 7.0
